Historic Adaptive Reuse

Large buildings like this fall into more complex code analysis for exiting and life safety, especially when converted to a use with more occupants.  Use of the Historic Building Code is valuable to the tenant because it provides some leeway when there are some non-compliant (with respect to current building codes) exiting features.  We really don't build things like we used to.

Below is a diagram with tables and calculations which was filed with the plans for the buidling permit.  This has become a typical requirement by buildling departments.  Click for a larger view. (1.9mb)
